Heating Things Up! Flamenco Dancing at Delmanor Elgin Mills

The cold weather doesn't stop the residents at  Delmanor Elgin Mills, in fact, the seniors recently turned up the heat with an afternoon of flamenco dancing!  The residents channeled their inner -gypsy fire - and tried some flamenco dance lessons in the comfort of their own home.

The passion, fluid arms, and percussive footwork that are staples of flamenco dance were balanced with the beautiful melodies and intricate rhythms of flamenco music that was heard throughout the retirement community.

"Flamenco Fiesta" came to Delmanor Elgin Mills for an afternoon of fun flamenco lessons with the seniors.  Dancers Elenita, Leli, and their guitarist Miguel transported the seniors overseas to Spain for a demonstration of their traditional dance.  Residents were given castanets to click, along with being encouraged to dance with the professionals.

What better way to warm up on a bitterly cold day than to jump into some festive flamenco dancing in bright and cheery costumes!  The seniors had a fantastic time learning this fun and exciting style of dance and had a wonderful workout along the way!
