Be a Santa to a Senior Event at Delmanor Northtown

Delmanor Northtown residents, staff, community members and volunteers captured the true meaning of Christmas by hosting the 3rd annual "Be a Santa to a Senior" gift wrapping event.

The objective of this event is to collect and distribute thousands of gifts to isolated or less fortunate seniors during the holiday season. Organizers placed Christmas trees in various locations in the GTA and the participants selected a paper ornament off of one of the trees that were labelled with a seniors name and Christmas wish.Home Instead Senior Care makes "Be a Santa to a Senior"a reality by partnering with local retailers and businesses, banks, non-profit agencies, health care centers, hospitals and the very generous volunteers from the community who gave up their precious time during the busy holiday season.

Girl Guides Spread Holiday Cheer at Delmanor Elgin Mills

Residents at Delmanor Elgin Mills along with the 2nd and 6th Richmond Hill Girl Guides had much to celebrate on December 6th as they rejoiced in the music of the season and a very special 100th year of Girl Guides in Canada.

The Girl Guides had been very busy preparing their musical performance as well as creating handmade Christmas decorations and mini decorated Christmas trees to adorn the tables at the retirement residence.

The Delmanor seniors sang along to the Christmas carols and sounds of Hanukkah, and then shared many holiday memories with the Girl Guides after their performance.

A warm hearted holiday thank you was given to all of the 2nd and 6th Richmond Hill Girl Guides and to the volunteers that worked so generously to put on this special holiday event.

Delmanor Wynford Residents Donate to Christmas Charity

A group of talented seniors at Delmanor Wynford; proudly known as the "Knit Wits", meet weekly to knit, chat, share patterns and happily display their creations.

This is a busy time of year for the Knit Wits, that have been working tirelessly for the past several months knitting mittens, hats, dish cloths, socks, robes, Afghans and baby attire, to raise money for the Toronto Firefighters Annual Christmas Toy Drive.

The "Mitten Master" Resident, June Saito

The Delmanor Wynford Tuck Shop is a busy place where all of the knitted items are flying off of the shelves by residents, staff, volunteers and families who all wish to support this very worthy cause. Currently the Knit Wits have sold more than $100 worth of knitted merchandise and hope to sell much more before Christmas, in order to purchase more toys for needy local children. The Toronto Firefighters will visit Delmanor Wynford to collect all of the toys and monies raised for this local charity.

Special thanks go to the very generous members of the Knit Wits who donated their time and talents to support this annual charity.

Delmanor Wynford Remembrance Day Ceremony

Delmanor Wynford staff, residents and families paused to give thanks to Canadian war veterans both past and present and to remember the sacrifices made by veterans of war.
Wynford Veteran Anne Barstow

There are twelve veterans currently residing at Delmanor Wynford. They were treated to a special lunch in the private dining room followed by an emotional Remembrance Day ceremony in the theatre. A very powerful slide show was featured to honour the veterans of Delmanor Wynford. It portrayed pictures of the seniors today, as well as during their service years. All of the guests felt very honoured and privileged to be able to share this emotional and memorable day.
