Blue Jays Make History on September 23rd!

It was a day that Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista and residents of Delmanor Elgin Mills will never forget. On this beautiful, historic day in Toronto , Bautista hit his 50th home run and lifted the fans and Jays alike. This home run made Bautista the first Blue Jay and only the 26th player in baseball history to launch at least 50home runs in one campaign.

The Elgin Mills seniors enjoyed traditional ball park hot dogs and ice cream while basking in the sunshine of the open dome at Rogers Centre. It was a truly memorable afternoon for all!

LivingWell and Inspiring Others!

Delmanor Wynford launched their LivingWell lecture series on September 25th. Their first guest speaker was Paul Rosen, a Paralympian with Team Canada. Paul inspired the audience with his story of courage, determination and living your dream. At the age of 15, Paul’s dream of becoming a professional hockey player was shattered when he broke his leg in 14 places during a game in the Midget AAA league. After countless surgeries attempting to repair the damage, his right leg was amputated in 1999.
Within one year of his amputation, Paul mastered ice sledge hockey and joined the ranks of the Canadian National Sledge Hockey team. In 2002 he became the oldest rookie in the history of the sport, playing for Team Canada at the Salt Lake City Paralympics Winter Games.
Paul spent nine seasons with Canada's National Sledge Team, finishing with an impressive 55-15-1 record, a 1.04 goals against average, and 25 shutouts in 72 career games.

A native of Thornhill, Ont., Rosen was a three-time Paralympian in 2002, 2006 and 2010 - winning a gold medal in Torino Italy in 2006.

Paul Rosen was recently bestowed the Rick Hansen Award of Excellence which is presented to rare individuals who have made outstanding contributions, or have accomplished outstanding achievements benefiting the cause of persons with physical disabilities internationally.”

To reserve your spot at Delmanor Wynford’s next LivingWell lecture, please contact Betty Ann Miers or Monique Kuhn at 416-331-9797 and prepare to be inspired!
