Cruising at Delmanor Glen Abbey

The residents of Delmanor Glen Abbey are not letting the warm summer days slip by without experiencing them to their fullest!

Nothing says summer like cruising on the water and enjoying ice cream.  The residents did just that with a Mariposa Boat Cruise and Ice Cream Social.

The seniors toured Toronto Harbour and followed the cruise with a delectable ice cream treat.

All of the residents had a fanastic time on this outing, while enjoying the memories of childhood brought back on this special day.

Delmanor Glen Abbey Visit Dutch Mill Country Market

The Delmanor Glen Abbey residents boarded the Delmanor bus yet again to enjoy a country drive to Flamborough and a visit to the Dutch Mill Country Market.


The escape from the city was a welcomed change to the seniors.  The residents took in all of summers splendour while enjoying the unique and inviting experience of the country market.



The seniors browsed the over 15,000 square feel of the store that showcases unique gifts and special treasures.  The residents entered the Dutch Mill Country Market Tea Room as customers and left as friends.

Delmanor Glen Abbey Tour Hamilton Harbour

The staff and residents of Delmanor Glen Abbey spent a beautiful summer day touring the Hamilton Harbour Front.

18 Delmanor Seniors enjoyed a bus tour along Lake Ontario through Burlington & Oakville.  The waterfront community tour stopped for a picnic lunch and leisurely stroll.

This is one of the many recreational activities that Delmanor residents enjoy thanks in part to the comfortable Delmanor bus that is dedicated to outings of this type and the devoted Delmanor staff.

A Story-telling Master Comes to Delmanor Elgin Mills

George Laidlaw is an avid Canadian storyteller that has been charming listeners across Canada with his over 91 books.

The residents of Delmanor Elgin Mills listened to book summaries and the inspiration behind some of these stories.  Having toured over 250 retirement residences, George brought this passion for history to the Delmanor Elgin Mills seniors.

George has based all of his stories on non-fiction events in Canadian and World history.  He shared many of these inspirations with the residents and community members that were charmed during the interesting afternoon event.

Caribana Came to Delmanor Wynford

Residents, family and staff of Delmanor Wynford celebrated Caribana with a colourful & vibrant BBQ lunch and afternoon of steel pan entertainment provided by The Enchanting Steel Pan Band.

Residents & guests gathered on the rooftop terrace for a festive lunch consisting of jerk hamburgers, BBQ chicken, mango salad & other Caribbean treats.

The gorgeous afternoon sun shone down on the seniors as they listened to the joyful tunes and were treated to the wonderful food prepared by the talented Delmanor Wynford Chefs.



All of the guests were transported to the islands as the smells and sounds of the Caribbean filled the air.

Delmanor Northtown Celebrates the Fabulous 50's!

The answer was YES! at Delmanor Northtown's Fantastic 50's dance.

 The residents of Delmanor Northtown, family members and friends were invited to join in a memorable evening of dancing & wonderful music provided by the live band, 5th Avenue.  An array of fine desserts and delicious hors oeuvre's prepared by the talented Northtown Chefs were elegantly displayed for all of the guests.

Everyone in attendance had a fantastic time and felt even better knowing that the entire proceeds were being donated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.  What an excellent way of giving to a very worthy cause!

The Music had everyone up on their feet!

Elgin Mills Residents Visit Ward Island

On August12th, a day trip to Ward island was enjoyed by Delmanor Elgin Mills residents.



11 seniors caught the Ward Island ferry early that summer day to join with the City of Toronto's Sunshine Centre for Seniors.

Sunshine was most definitely the theme for the day as the seniors danced, listened to music, played charades and took leisurely strolls along the boardwalk.



The residents toured the island on golf carts, taking in as much of the island as possible.  The busy fun-filled day was loved by all of the participants and local residents alike.

Delmanor Residents Take in a Jay's Game!

The seniors of Delmanor Elgin Mills joined with the residents of Delmanor Northtown for an afternoon Blue Jay's Game at the Rogers Centre.



The sun filled afternoon was spent cheering and socializing in the open air, while taking in the home town Jays.

Despite all of the support, the Blue Jays did not manage to win the game, but there was no doubt that the support was felt and heard by the players on the field.



All of the seniors enjoyed getting together with other Delmanor residents and look forward to the next joint recreational event.

Roasting Marshmallows at Delmanor Elgin Mills

What better way to bring back memories of childhood fun than roasting marshmallows over the campfire?



The seniors of Delmanor Elgin Mills had the country brought to the city with the BBQ used as a modern day campfire. 



Residents gathered in the backyard to celebrate a beautiful summer evening while being entertained by Marc Ballesteros.  Everyone had a wonderful time listening to the oldies and enjoying hot toasted marshmallows; truly the stuff that summer memories are made of!

Delmanor Elgin Mills Residents Experience the Magic of the Monarch

The residents of Delmanor Elgin Mills, along with family and staff members, raised and released over 20 beautiful monarch butterflies into the wild. 




Monarch butterflies face the staggering odds of only 1% survival rate in the wild, but when raised in a terrarium, they can reach survival rates of up to 99%!


The seniors fed milkweed and the butterflies grew and eventually cocooned into beautiful green chrysalis's.  Once emerged, the residents loved releasing them from their fingers into the open air.

Delmanor Northtown Participates in a Chiropractic Seminar

Dr. Christoper Lee visited Delmanor Northtown to demonstrate treatments and techniques that seniors can use to help alleviate pain and restore function.

It has been shown that seniors who receive ongoing chiropractic care are:
  • more likely to exercise vigorously
  • less likely to be hospitalized
  • less likely to need nursing care
  • less likely to need prescription drugs
  • more likely to be active in the community
