Delmanor Wynford Takes a Fishing Trip

A group of Delmanor Wynford gentlemen, passionate about fishing, ventured off for a Mens Fishing trip at Burd's Family Fishing in Stouffville.

The resident fishermen were joined by Delmanor Wynford Environmental Manager Jamie Donaldson.  The wonderful afternoon of rainbow trout fishing was in a great park-line setting that consisted of 2 half acre ponds fed by a natural artisan spring that was situated on 6 acres of countryside.

There was no need for tall tales since the seniors caught four 4 1/2-5 lb rainbow trout that were later filleted and BBQ'd on the rooftop terrace at Delmanor Wynford by Jamie Donaldson.

Jamie shared his secret recipe of lemons, limes, lemon pepper, garlic, chives and spring onions wrapped in foil that resulted in a delicious lunch for the fishermen and residents alike.

Caribana Fun Comes to Delmanor Wynford

Not even a rainy day could keep the colourful decorations and vibrant Caribbean fun from the residents and staff of Delmanor Wynford.

Many of the seniors and staff decorated their own colourful headpieces for the Caribbean festival, while staff members were adorned in costumes from Toronto's Caribbean Carnival & Trinidad and Tobago Carnival.

Resident, Sharon Panke with Recreation Manager,
Ashley Smith and Head Concierge, Sophia Beecher.

The Executive Chefs at Delmanor Wynford prepared a wonderful Caribbean themed BBQ lunch that was enjoyed in the Donalda Dining Room due to the inclement weather.  That didn't stop everyone from celebrating and enjoying the jerk chicken, jerk hamburgers with plantain chips, mango salad and mango ice cream with fruit skewers.

Wynford residents Lillian, Lillian, Mary, June, and Koko
adorned in their beautiful hand-crafted headpieces.

Following lunch, residents were treated to the sounds of the islands with Triple Play Pan Trio that consisted of steel pan, soca and reggae music.  Residents and staff were dancing to the island music and having a wonderful time.

Delmanor Northtown Residents Enjoy a Day on Centre Island

For many of the seniors of Delmanor Northtown, a trip to Toronto's Centre Island has always been a favourite summertime day trip with family and friends for years.  The residents enjoyed a picnic lunch by the water and spent time exploring the many areas of the island's parks, gardens and even the petting farm, before catching the ferry back to the city.

A day by the water was enjoyed by all who came along, and the weather couldn't have been better as time was enjoyed with friends on the island.

For some, the ferry ride across the lake was a highlight, and for others, the highlight may have been the ice cream, but all in all, it was a great day!

Famous People Players Visit Delmanor Elgin Mills

Delmanor Elgin Mills residents, staff & guests attended an exclusive event with Famous People Players Costume Designer Mary Thornton.

Famous People Players invited guests into their inclusive black light theatre production to show behind the scenes footage and prop making.

Mary Thornton is the mother of Diane Dupuis, the founder of Famous People Players.  Mary has designed and created all of the props for the black light dinner theatre.  Mary is truly an inspiration, who at 96 years old is still very involved with the theatre.  She began designing costumers and props 38 years ago and is now travelling around the GTA spreading the good word about the shows and their charitable acts throughout the past 38 years.

These inspiring, lively "puppet" shows are all acted out by young adults with disabilities and are all set to familiar rock and roll music.

The seniors of Delmanor Elgin Mills thoroughly enjoyed this presentation about Famous People Players and meeting Mary Thornton and Famous People Players VP, Anne Campbell.
