Canada Pride at Delmanor Northtown

February 15th is Flag Day in Canada.  Delmanor Seniors Communities, a Canadian company, was proud to host a Flag Day celebration at Delmanor Northtown.  The retirement community welcomed the 'Flag Flyers' to their event and were thrilled to have the group in attendance.

The 'Flag Flyers' is a volunteer group of Canadians that are dedicated to raising national pride and solidarity.  Their goal is to increase awareness of the 'National Flag of Canada' and what it symbolizes in the hearts of Canadians.  The 'Flag Flyers' group have been publicly recognized by the office of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Minister of Environment and other members of parliament.

The inspirational group was formed in 2009  under the leadership of Marga, known as 'The Flag Lady'.  Marga shared information about the history of the Canadian Flag and handed out Canadian pins and flags to everyone in attendance.

The seniors of Delmanor Northtown enthusiastically participated in this wonderful event, to not only display their pride in being Canadian on Flag Day, but also as an outpouring of support for our Canadian athletes competing in Sochi.

Happy 49th Flag Day Canada!
