Delmanor Elgin Mills Learns Chocolate Making

The residents of Delmanor Elgin Mills visited Afya Hort Therapy on February 1st to learn the exquisite art of making chocolate from scratch!

Afya Hort Therapy's Sean Chubbuck provided a slide show to the seniors that depicted the history of chocolate, along with visual samples to each of the attendees.  Chocolate begins as a cacao bean in the pod and then is turned into liqueur and then finally to cocoa butter.
The Delmanor Seniors were given the opportunity to grind the cocoa beans using a mortar and pestle and then experienced the modern version using a juicer to separate the liqueur from the husks.

After all of this hard work, the residents were rewarded with a mug of their very own hand made hot chocolate.

All of the seniors who attended this workshop had a wonderful time and learned a great deal about making chocolate!
