Puppies "Invade" Delamanor Glen Abbey!

Delmanor Glen Abbey recently welcomed 6 West Highland Terrier Puppies for the afternoon as part of their Pet Therapy Program.

The advantages of pet therapy have been associated with emotional, physical, social and mental health benefits for seniors.  Studies have shown that seniors' overall health improves from having a pet, but even something as simple as petting a dog can result in an increased level of serotonin for both the human and the pet.  Dogs are not called man's best friend for nothing!

The puppies were between the ages of 6-7 weeks old and were widely popular with the seniors.  This visit with the puppies was the "encore performance" at Delmanor Glen Abbey, since they made their debut at just 3 weeks old.

The opportunity to hold, play and snuggle with the Westie Puppies was a highlight of the day for the Glen Abbey seniors and staff who are hoping that the puppies make a quick return prior to moving onto forever homes with a new family from the Oakville area.
