Cinco de Mayo is celebrated annually on May 5th.  It is a celebration of the Mexican victory over the French in the battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862.  An underdog Mexican force, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated the well trained forces of Napolean III's French army.  The victory symbolized Mexico's resistance to foreign occupation, it's patriotism and unity.

Following lunch, the seniors and staff were entertained by a Mariachi Band that performed popular Mexican songs.

While they enjoyed the performance, the residents were treated to Lime Margaritas.  Cinco de Mayo is celebrated worldwide with lots of food, drink & music.
