Delmanor Northtown's, Tribute To Paris

On Friday, November 13th  2015, the world was forever changed by the violent attacks on the beautiful city of Paris, France. Just like the entire world, the community of Delmanor Northtown was shaken by this event.  Instead of giving in to the fear and anger that followed, residents and team members decided to pay a tribute to the citizens of France with their own “L’hymne à l’amour”.

The day began with a peaceful hymn that touched the hearts of the residents.  Team members and visitors wore blue, white and red, along with an "I Love Paris" pin to show their solidarity.

In the afternoon, Trio Gratoro performed their Tribute to Paris concert.  Each and every note played was dedicated to those whose lives have forever been changed by these devastating acts. The letter from Antoine Leiris to the terrorists was read to the audience and the room was filled with hope, love and tears.
The tribute solidified the intention for the day: as a community, Delmanor Northtown supports our French cousins, and they send their love and prayers across the vast miles that separate them.

It was an incredible day for everyone.  Love, peace and hope shone in all of the residents' hearts. Together, as a community, the Delmanor Northtown residents did not only feel connected to each other, but also to the world around them.

Delmanor Glen Abbey Remembers.....

Delmanor Glen Abbey recognized a 'Week of Remembrance' for their many Veterans, Residents and Team Members.

Delmanor Glen Abbey resident, Revered John Shearman, brought everyone together with the noble poise and wisdom acquired only through experience, to guide residents through thoughts, reflections and prayers devoted to this emotional time of year.

On  Remembrance Day, after observing the services from Ottawa, the Delmanor Glen Abbey Veterans enjoyed a luncheon where war stories were shared; some sad, some fond, but all with the vital message of holding on to what is most important.

Delmanor Glen Abbey provided a 'Walk of Remembrance Table' for residents to display personal artifacts and memorabilia.  The table allowed residents, families and team members a place to appreciate the memories of war years.  Everyone at Delmanor Glen Abbey took time to remember the sacrifices that so many made to give us the freedoms we have today.

The "Beatles" Came to Richmond Hill!

Delmanor Elgin Mills was one of two sponsors of the 'Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band' performance at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.   The evening began with a private reception for the lead sponsors and their guests. Mayor David Barrow was present for the reception. Mayor Barrow was born and raised in Richmond Hill and has been the Mayor of Richmond Hill since 2006.

The title of the performance, Sgt. Pepper, was the Beatles’ eighth studio album, released in 1967. The first half of the popular production featured such classic hits as “A Day in the Life”Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and “With a Little Help from My Friends.” The second half of the performance was dedicated to the 'Best' of the Beatles.  The crowd was captivated by the legendary songs that have spanned across generations.

The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is located on the former site of the old Town Hall of Richmond Hill. The construction of the centre is the largest project ever undertaken by the town of Richmond Hill. It was built in 2003, with 43,000 square feet of space.  It is a multi-use cultural facility that was built on 1.5 acres of land located directly on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill’s downtown core.  The theatre is the largest of its kind in York Region with a full hydraulic orchestra pit that has been host to countless events, productions and performances.

Delmanor Elgin Mills was thrilled to be a part of this wonderful tribute.  Supporting local community and artistic events in Richmond Hill is very important to Delmanor Elgin Mills. They look forward to attending future events held at the Performing Arts Centre in the future.

Access Abilities 14th Annual Veteran’s Luncheon

Over the past 14 years,  Kristin and David Courtney have witnessed this emotional event grow from less than 100 veterans when the event began, to over 800 veterans in attendance this year!

For the past 6 years, Delmanor Glen Abbey have been proud supporters of the Veteran's LuncheonDelmanor Prince Edward GM Karen Goyer, along with Delmanor Glen Abbey GM Pat Niblett, with Recreation Manager Marilyn Cook, were on hand assisting with serving the meals to the veterans.  James Lofranco & Julie Shuster, Marketing & Community Relations Managers assisted with the registrations of the event, along with chipping in wherever they could in order to make the event successful.

Veterans and volunteers from all over the GTA took part in the luncheon.  The volunteers felt honoured to be a part of this special day in order to thank the veterans for the sacrifices that they have made.    There were many guests in attendance, including local dignitaries, Halton Police Officers, and Mounties, along with local school children that prepared beautiful hand-made cards for the veterans.

Everyone that attended this special Veterans Luncheon at the Oakville Conference Centre had a very memorable experience.  Taking time to honour our Canadian veterans in such a wonderful way made everyone in attendance feel pride and joy as we collectively honour our Canadian heroes.
