As the beautiful Spring weather makes it way to Southern Ontario, so too does the maple sap! That is exactly what the residents of
Delmanor Prince Edward were anticipating while hosting their very first
Maple Syrup Festival.
Expert Maple Syrup Producer,
Sean Chubbuck, was on hand to explain the process, from the tapping of sugar maple trees, to the final product, maple syrup! Sean explained that approximately 40 liters of maple sap is required to produce just one litre of maple syrup! He emphasized the importance of drilling holes on a downward angle to ensure the sap drains into the sap collection pails hanging on the spiels. After being informed of the many hours involved with sap collection and the boiling process, Residents had a new appreciation for the "amber liquid" and were thrilled when they had the opportunity to taste the final product. Sean prepared the always popular "
Maple Syrup on Snow" for everyone in attendance.

Beaver Tails"! Residents sat by the fire and shared stories while indulging in classic Canadian treats and traditions. A wonderful time was had by all! Residents & staff anxiously await other sure signs of Spring in the weeks to come!
