Over 30 years ago, an inspiring young man by the
name of Terry Fox started his Marathon of Hope, which thankfully, still to this
day continues throughout Canada. The residents and staff of Delmanor Northtown
decided to continue Terry’s legacy and hold their own Terry Fox Walk, to not
only raise money for the Foundation, but to also commemorate all of the people
in their lives who have been touched by cancer.
On a beautiful Friday morning in September,
the Delmanor Northtown community watched an inspiring video provided by the
Terry Fox Foundation and then continued their journey down Yonge Street all the
way to Mel Lastman Square. After 16,878
steps taken collectively, and over $180.00 raised, and an hour of true dedication
celebrating and honoring this incredible man, they made their way back home to Delmanor Northtown for
refreshments.
There is nothing better than giving your time and love
for a worthy cause, and there is no higher cause than the Marathon of Hope. The
residents of Delmanor Northtown love to give back to their community and this
is just one more way that the Northtown seniors celebrate life and fight the battle against cancer
together!
