The Delmanor Wynford Woodworking Club Gets Creative!

The new woodworking program launched at Delmanor Wynford has truly sparked the interest and creativity of all of the residents!

Men and women with varying levels of woodworking experience have been rolling up their sleeves to create wooden candle holders. Using hand tools only, residents have been planing pieces of ash and maple to create their beautiful masterpieces. Although each resident is working on their own piece, everyone involved has been sharing their woodworking tips and tricks. Residents with 40+ years of woodworking experience have been helping those who are new to the craft ensuring tools are being used correctly and offering friendly tips as needed.

As many of the seniors quickly discovered, woodworking has many health benefits as well.  Wynford residents can attest to the fact that there is a lot of physical fitness involved in woodworking, especially when using hand tools! Moreover, residents are given an opportunity to express their creativity and complete a project from start to finish. As the residents have experienced, it is a very social activity with residents helping other residents and others stopping by to see what the group is working on.
