The Burr House Spinners and Weavers Guild promote all fibre arts in the community of Richmond Hill. The Guild focuses their attention on promoting awareness of weaving and spinning to the public.
The residents of Delmanor Elgin Mills were excited that members of the Historic Burr House were visiting to teach a weaving course. The seniors were taught by a Burr House volunteer that was skilled in the art of weaving women's change purses.
The residents were encouraged to put their newly acquired skills to the test and were all thrilled with the results! Doris Leno, Delmanor Elgin MIlls resident and founding member of the Burr House was also present to reminisce and share stories about Richmond Hill 70+ years ago.
The seniors of Delmanor Elgin Mills frequent the Burr House Tea Room throughout the year for afternoon tea and home-made scones. It truly was a treat to have the Burr House come to them with treats and lessons in the unique art of weaving.
