Organic Gardening at Delmanor Glen Abbey

The ability to grow and consume the healthiest food possible is one of the primary benefits of organic gardening.  Nothing you can buy in a store can compare to the taste, nutrition and cleanliness of a garden grown vegetable.

The residents of Delmanor Glen Abbey know the many advantages of eating healthy, locally grown food.  Many residents have been accustomed to having their own garden all of their lives, so they were thrilled with the opportunity to have an organic garden right at home at Delmanor Glen Abbey.

Along with the benefits of eating healthy food, gardening is a wonderful hobby that is relaxing and therapeutic for many people throughout their lives and into their retirement years.  Glen Abbey resident Myrtle Tovell, along with other residents tended to the garden.  They were collectively able to grow 4lb tomatoes that were enjoyed by everyone at the retirement community.

It's sad to see the end of the summer growing season, but Myrtle and her fellow organic farmers are looking forward to spring when they can continue to grow fresh produce for the seniors to enjoy.
