DELMANOR NORTHTOWN AWARDED LEED CERTIFICATION – THE FIRST IN RETIREMENT RESIDENCES

Every building has an environmental impact and Delmanor Northtown is following in the tradition of its parent company Tridel. Tridel is very proud of both the fact that they have sold more LEED® candidate suites than any other builder in the GTA and the fact that Delmanor Northtown Is the first LEED® certified building in the retirement rental residence category. By diligently pursuing LEED certification from the outset Northtown made the conscious decision to lower adverse environmental community impact and, at the same time, raise the standard of comfort of its residents. No small feat, their achievements were measured and evaluated through every stage of the planning, building and completion process. Today the results are readily apparent to visitors and residents alike.

LEED® has become the standard for Tridel and Delmanor and today Northtown continues to operate to LEED standards. LEED® is the most established and comprehensive green rating system out there. LEED® stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is administered by the Canada Green Building Council. Its strict criteria are second to none, and far from every building qualifies after undergoing the rigorous testing process. That means Northtown has been certified in all six categories outlined by the LEED® Program: sustainable sites, water efficiency’ energy & atmosphere, materials & resources’ indoor environmental quality’ innovation and design process.

On average, a Tridel Naturally Better community helps reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) by approximately 500 tonnes. A reduction in GHG means better air quality and improved health for the community and greater neighborhood. Canadians spend an average of 90% of their time indoors.
