Delmanor Elgin Mills Sponsors a Local Family

The staff, residents, family members and community of Delmanor Elgin Mills, joined together to sponsor a less fortunate family in Richmond Hill.

Throughout the months of November & December, the seniors have been selling raffle tickets to win a hand-made money tree, skillfully made by one of the Delmanor Elgin Mills residents.

The Money Tree

All of the proceeds raised from this raffle was donated to a family that was chosen for Delmanor Elgin Mills by the Richmond Hill Food Bank.

This is an annual event that the Delmanor seniors are proud to participate in.  Delmanor Elgin Mills was overjoyed to raise over $560 for this very deserving family!  One of the most exciting rewards for the Delmanor Elgin Mills seniors was receiving the Christmas wish list from the children and then going shopping!

Gift Donations Raised

What a wonderful way to give back during the holidays!

Delmanor Elgin Mills Decorates Gingerbread Houses

Delmanor Elgin Mills staff were challenged to a gingerbread house decorating competition to add some flare to the holiday decorations and to get all staff involved in the festive fun.

The staff were divided within their respective departments; kitchen, dining room, recreation, marketing & nursing.  The staff worked diligently on their houses and then displayed them for the seniors to vote on their favourite Gingerbread House over the period of a weekend event.

The results were tallied and the winner was Jaimie Gatsos, one of the Delmanor Elgin Mills Marketing Managers!  Congratulations Jaimie and to all of the Delmanor Elgin Mills staff for their hard work & special decorations for the retirement residence.

Santa Claus Came to Richmond Hill

The Richmond Hill Santa Claus Parade marked the start of the holiday season in the community.  The parade welcomed Delmanor Elgin Mills staff, residents, community & children's organizations, local businesses and the residents of Richmond Hill.

Getting ready for the parade!

Despite the damp weather, there were many floats filled with happy, smiling faces.  Yonge Street was lined with spectators of all ages that were taking in the fun of the parade.  Even the canine participants were dressed in holiday costumes for the event!

The Delmanor Elgin Mills bus was a main attraction; featuring penguins lining the roof, garlands draped across the windows and Santa hanging onto both the hood and rear of the bus.

The entire community thoroughly enjoyed the parade this year.  Delmanor resident, Eleanor, in her 87th year walked the entire 3km parade route with her daughter!  What an inspiration she was to all!

Delmanor Glen Abbey Support Sleeping Children Around the World

The random acts of kindness philosophy was continued at Delmanor Glen Abbey as Betty Fry, a Delmanor Glen Abbey resident, challenged the Delmanor seniors to raise funds for The Sleeping Children Around the World organization.  The S.C.A.W  raises funds to provide bed kits to the neediest of children in underdeveloped and developing countries.

The Glen Abbey residents wished to continue the fantastic work of the Ken Dryden family and the United Church.
